Regular Expression (Regex)
A pattern language for matching, searching and replacing substrings of text.
A regular expression is a sequence of characters that defines a search pattern. Regular expressions are used to validate input, extract data, and perform sophisticated find-and-replace operations across almost every modern programming language and text editor. The most widely supported flavor today is the ECMAScript / PCRE-compatible syntax.
